        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 6, 2013) – The Maritime men's lacrosse team lost to Kean University by the score of 21-6 Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field. The Privateers fall to 4-9 (0-3 Skyline) on the season, while the Cougars improve to 10-1 (2-0 Skyline).
 
        Maritime was led by sophomore Nick Schneider (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point), who tallied a hat-trick on three goals, while senior Kevin Winter (Brightwaters, N.Y./Bay Shore) (Brightwaters, N.Y./Bay Shore) added two goals and an assist. Junior James D'Amico (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) chipped in with a goal and an assist, while freshman Tom Kelly (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) had two helpers.
 
        In goal, senior Nick Barbuto (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) suffered the loss after playing over 40 minutes and making 16 saves. Freshman Mike Arnold (Plainedge, N.Y./Plainedge) (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) came in for the final 20 minutes and made one stop.
 
        The Cougars' Richard Cheifitz led all players with 10 points on four goals and six assists, while Brad Mills had five goals and one assist and Sean Bobal recorded four goals and two assists. In goal, Dino Vitale earned the win after making eight saves in the first half. Three other goalies got in to play for Kean.
 
        The Privateers return to action on Wednesday night, April 10, when the squad will travel to Yonkers to face nearby Skyline opponent Mount St. Vincent. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tibbetts Brook Park.
