Men’s Lacrosse Falls To Kings Point, 13-3

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 13, 2013) – The Maritime men's lacrosse team suffered a home loss to arch-rival Kings Point Wednesday night, 13-3, at Reinhart Field. The Privateers fall to 2-5 overall on the season, while the Mariners even their record at 2-2.
 
        Senior Matthew Messina (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) scored two goals for Maritime and junior Andrew Scalesi (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) added the other tally. Junior Dylan Larmony (Old Bethpage, N.Y./Plainview JFK) (Old Bethpage, N.Y./Planview JFK) led the team with four groundballs and three caused turnovers.
 
        In goal, senior Nick Barbuto (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) made 12 saves over three quarters and was replaced by freshman Mike Arnold (Plainedge, N.Y./Plainedge) (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) for the fourth quarter, who made two saves.
 
        For the Mariners, sophomore Geoff Harty led all players with eight points on three goals and five assists. Freshman John Atkinson added three goals and two assists and classmate Chris Whitenack picked up eight groundballs and was 12-for-20 on faceoffs. Sophomore goalie Alex Peyreigne made 12 saves in the winning effort.
 
        The Privateers are back in action on Saturday, when they play host to Mass. Maritime. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
