Men’s Lacrosse Game Day: Two-Game Road Trip Begins With Slate Against Emmanuel Tonight

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 1, 2013) – The Maritime men's lacrosse team (0-2) will be travelling up to Boston, Mass., on Friday to take on Emmanuel College (0-0). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Saints' Roberto Clemente Field.

        Friday night's game will be the first between the two teams.
 
A Closer Look At The Privateers
        The Privateers are 0-2 on the young season, losing their season-opener at Vassar on Saturday, 15-9, and the home-opener to WestConn on Wednesday, 16-5. Junior James D'Amico (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) leads the team with seven points (four goals and three assists). Classmate Mike Johnson (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and sophomore Daniel Ahern (Kings Park, N.Y./St. Dominic) (Kings Park, N.Y./St. Dominic) are tied for second with four points each, as Johnson has three goals and an assist and Ahern has four assists.
 
        Senior Joe Villarreal (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) is the leading groundball man with 11, while freshman Matt Hayes (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) is right behind with 10. Hayes is the faceoff leader with a 59.3 winning percentage (16-for-27). Sophomore Justin Fronckwicz (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and junior Dylan Larmony (Old Bethpage, N.Y./Plainview JFK) (Old Bethpage, N.Y./Planview JFK) are also contributing well defensively, as Fronckwicz has nine GBs and Larmony has eight.
 
        In goal, Nick Barbuto (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) has made 25 saves over the first two games.
 
Scouting The Emmanuel Saints
        The Saints have yet to play a game this 2013 season, but were 7-9 last season, including a 3-6 record in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. They finished the season ranked seventh in the GNAC and lost in the first round of the tournament to Mount Ida, 10-3.
 
        This season, second-year head coach Brendan McWilliams will lead a squad that lost one of its leading scorers from 2012, Ted Dimando, who had 19 goals and seven assists, but is returning sophomore Jake Jaskolski, who also had 26 points with 12 goals and 14 assists. Sophomore midfielder Jake Pickett picked up a team-high 66 groundballs last season to lead the squad. In goal, sophomore Austin Lauzier went 7-8 last season with an 8.03 goals against average and 8.81 saves per game.
