Box Score PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (October 26, 2013) – The Maritime women's soccer team concluded its 2013 regular season with a loss to the St. Joseph's Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon on Long Island.

The Privateers opened the game with the first scoring chance as freshman Marisa Athan (Mineola, N.Y./Mineola) hit a shot off the crossbar in the seventh minute of play.

Several minutes later, the Golden Eagles struck for the game's first goal as Jennifer Martino got a shot past Maritime sophomore netminder Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) for the 1-0 lead. St. Joseph's scored five more times through the remainder of the first half and took a 6-0 lead into halftime.

In the 67th minute of the game, the Privateers put a shot on goal as senior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) struck a shot that was stopped by Golden Eagle goalie Cristiana Votta. The save was the only one needed as she finished the game with the shutout victory.

Hoar concluded the game with five saves, to finish the season with 155 to place her fourth on the single-season saves list.

With the loss, Maritime did not qualify for the Skyline Conference Championship after going to the third tiebreaker. After Purchase, Sage and the Privateers finished the season with 1-1 records against each other, the teams then go to the next tiebreaker. Each of the three teams lost to the same five teams ahead of them in the standings, and all beat NYU-Poly. The third tiebreaker goes to goal differential in league play, thus breaking the three-way tie and eliminating Maritime.

The Privateers may have a chance at continuing their season as Maritime rejoined the ECAC earlier this season with enough time to apply for the six-team ECAC Metro Tournament.

The ECAC Tournament is for those who fail to qualify for the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament, by way of league automatic qualifiers, Pool B and Pool C bids. The announcement for the team's that qualify for the ECAC Metro Tournament will be made on Monday, November 11 after the NCAA Tournament Field is announced earlier in the day.
