The Maritime women's soccer team hosts fellow Skyline Conference member Purchase on Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Reinhart Field.
Maritime enters off a heart-breaking loss to the Canton Kangaroos on Sunday afternoon, 4-3 in overtime. In the loss, senior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) netted all three goals as she has now reached the 70-goal plateau for her career. In three career games against Purchase, Trenkamp has two goals and an assist.
After starting the year 0-5, the Panthers have won three of their last four contests including wins over Lehman, NYU-Poly and John Jay. In their most recent contest, Purchase lost at home to St. Joseph's (LI) by the score of 2-0 on Saturday. In the loss, Gia Sergovich led the team with three shots while goalkeeper Jess Lindsay made 11 saves.
Career-Highs
This past week, several Maritime players reached several career-highs for their performances.
First, junior midfielder Kadie Hook (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) tied a program record with three assists in action against Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday. It was only the second time in program history a player had three helpers in one contest.
On Sunday, sophomore goalkeeper Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) registered a career-best 19 saves, placing her seventh on the single-game records list for the Privateers.
Senior Amy Hansen (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) picked up a career-best three shots, while freshman Marisa Athan (Mineola, N.Y./Mineola) tied her career-high in shots with six against the Screaming Eagles on Wednesday as well.
All-Time Series
Maritime has never beaten Purchase in their six head-to-head matchups, the closest of the games came two seasons ago when Purchase picked up a goal in double-overtime to score a win over Maritime on Reinhart Field.
And the Player of the Week is…
Trenkamp picked up Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honors for the second time this season. Last week the senior had seven goals and helped the Privateers to a 2-1 week, including a key conference win over NYU-Poly on Saturday evening.
