Women's Soccer Game Day: Maritime Heads on the Road for Late-Night Start against Yeshiva

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (October 16, 2013) – The Maritime women's soccer team will look to snap its two-game skid against the Yeshiva Maccabees on Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J.

Maritime enters off of its 8-0 loss to one of the top teams in the Skyline Conference on Sunday afternoon, as the Privateers fell to the Farmingdale Rams. Sophomore Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) made a career-high 20 saves in the game while taking just her sixth loss of the season.

Yeshiva enters on five straight loses with its last three against HVIAC opponents; St. Joseph's (Brooklyn), King's (N.Y.) and Berkeley (N.Y.). In its last game against the Knights on Sunday, the Maccabees scored first as Shamir Sara scored her second of the season, Berkeley came back with three unanswered and won, 3-1. Annie Jaffe made six saves in the losing effort.

All-Time Series
Maritime has won every matchup against Yeshiva heading into tonight's contest. The six straight wins is the most-ever that Maritime has defeated a single opponent consecutively. In last season's win, Maritime won 5-0. Melanie Lopez (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders Trades & Technical) scored a pair in the victory for the Privateers on Reinhart Field.

Four-with-Five
In four of the six all-time matchups against Yeshiva, Maritime has scored five goals. The other two times has seen the Privateers put up eight goals in 2010, and 10 goals in 2011.

Community Service
This past Saturday the Privateers helped out at the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon 10K in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Funds raised by the team were donated to the American Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). For the complete story about the team's service, CLICK HERE!

Maritime wraps-up the home portion of its 2013 season with a pair of home games on Friday and Sunday. On Friday, the Privateers take on the Mount St. Mary Knights with a 7 p.m. kickoff before a noon start on Sunday against non-conference Alfred.

Yeshiva takes on another Skyline Conference team as the squad travels for what is to be a home game for Yeshiva against the Purchase Panther on the Purchase College campus. The game is slated for at 11 a.m. kickoff this Friday, October 18.
