GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 11, 2012) – The Maritime men's lacrosse team lost to Skyline Conference opponent Richard Stockton Wednesday night at the Ospreys' Stockton Turf Field. The defeat drops the Privateers record to 2-11 (1-2 Skyline) on the season, while Richard Stockton improves to 6-6 (3-1 Skyline).
Maritime had five different goal scorers on the night, as senior
John Driscoll (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford), junior
Kevin Winter (Brightwaters, N.Y./Bay Shore) (Brightwaters, N.Y./Bay Shore), sophomores
Andrew Scalesi (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) and
Brennen Siele (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) as well as freshman
Mike Gangarossa (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. Anthony's) all found the back of the net.
In goal, junior
Nick Barbuto (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) made 12 saves in just under three quarters of work. On the defensive side, senior defender
Steven Tonn (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) picked up a team-high nine groundballs.
The Ospreys were led by Brian Santoleri, who scored a game-high five goals. Wade Veselka led all players with eight points (3G, 5A), while Nick Bologno and Drew Wright both chipped in with four points (2G, 2A) apiece.
The Privateers return to action on Saturday, April 14, when they play host to Skyline opponent Mount St. Mary. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
