WAYNE, N.J. (Dec. 4, 2012) – The Maritime men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to William Paterson University on Tuesday to take on WPU in a non-conference contest. Both squads lost to the host Pioneers at the Wightman Pool – the men by the narrow score of 133-107, to fall to 4-2 overall on the season and the women, 107-69, to fall to 2-4.
On the men's side, sophomore
Matthew Collins (Brooklyn, N.Y./Townsend Harris) (Brooklyn, N.Y./Townsend Harris) won the 1000 free with a time of 10:58.91 and the 500 free in 5:18.94. Senior
Joe Tucker (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) also won two individual events: the 200 free (1:56.83) and the 100 free (52.34).
The women were led by freshman
Hayley Hobbs (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy), who recorded the only first place finish on the day for the Privateers in the 100 fly event in 1:06.48.
Maritime is back in action tonight, when the squads will play host to Skyline Conference opponent Mount St. Mary College. First race is set to go off at 7 p.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Pool.
