THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 20) - The Maritime swimming and diving teams earned a split with non-conference opponent the College of Staten Island Tuesday night at the Riesenberg Hall Pool. The men defeated the Dolphins by the score of 159-67, while the women lost, 147-78.
The Privateer men remain undefeated, moving to 3-0 on the season in dual meets, while the women fall to 1-2. For the full results of the meet,

Two swimmers placed first in all three of their events for the men: senior
Joe Tucker (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) and freshman
Brendan Erskine (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy). Tucker won two individual events - the 200 free (1:58.23) and the 100 free (51.86) and Erskine won the 200 IM in 2:10.64. Erskine was a part of both relay teams that touched first, the 200 medley relay (1:49.90) and the 200 free relay (1:35.83). Tucker was also on the 200 free relay team. The men won nine events in total on the night.
On the women's side, freshman
Hayley Hobbs (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) placed first in two individual events: the 50 free (27.72) and the 100 fly (1:06.52). Sophomore
Mariel Vanderlinden (Woodside, N.Y./Dominican Academy) had the only other individual win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:34.27. The 200 medley relay team also touched first in the first event of the night in 2:10.00.
The Privateers are back in action next Tuesday, when they will play host to Skyline foe Old Westbury. The meet was originally scheduled to be at Old Westbury, but due to their gym being used as a Red Cross Shelter in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, it has been relocated to Maritime. The first event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Pool.
