Game Day: Privateers Host Buccaneers In Clash Of Maritime Academies

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 18, 2011) – The SUNY Maritime men's lacrosse team will play host to rival Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday at Reinhart Field. The winner will take home the Maritime Cup. First faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Inside The Series

            Saturday's meeting will be the third between the Privateers and Buccaneers in as many seasons. The New York school holds a 2-0 series lead in the rivalry match between the two Maritime academies. Last season, SUNY Maritime came out on top by the score of 12-6 up in Buzzards Bay, Mass. Then-junior Michael Hanratty (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) scored four goals and added an assist, while classmate Keith Messina (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) earned the victory with a nine-save effort. In 2009, the Privateers defeated the Bucs, 21-7 at Reinhart Field.
