        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 2, 2011) – The Maritime men's and women's swimming teams open the 2011-12 season tonight with a home dual meet against William Paterson University. The first race against the Pioneers is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium.
 
Garrido And DaSilva Named Team Captains, Three Other Assistant Captains
        The Privateer swimming teams will have a new set of captains for the upcoming 2011-12 season. Senior Jonathan DaSilva (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) will lead the men into action this year as team captain, while classmate Brisa Garrido (Boca Raton, Fla./Chattahoochee) (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee) was tapped to be the women's captain. Three other swimmers were named as assistant captains: juniors Joe Tucker (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) and Leo Hudson (Freeport, Bahamas/Jack Hayward) for the men and senior Leighahn Ferrari (Copiague, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) (Copiague, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) for the women.
