Women's Soccer Drops Skyline Conference-Opener To Farmingdale State

             THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2010) – The Maritime women's soccer team travelled to Farmingdale State Thursday afternoon for its first Skyline Conference action of the season. The Privateers lost to the Rams, 9-0, falling to 0-8 (0-1 Skyline) on the season, while Farmingdale improved to 7-1 (2-0 Skyline).

             All of Farmingdale's goals came in the opening half of play, where junior goalkeeper Ashley Edington (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Bayshore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was forced to make 11 saves. Maritime broke through with two shots in the second half, both by freshman forward Lindsay L'Hommedieu (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East). One of the shots was on goal, but was saved by Rams' keeper Stacey Rao. For Farmingdale, Sarah Golden scored a game-high two goals, while seven other players found the back of the net.

             The Privateers return to action on Monday, Sept. 27, as part of a soccer doubleheader here at Maritime. The men's team will take on Medgar Evers at 5 p.m., before the women square off against local Skyline-foe Mount Saint Vincent at 7 p.m. Both games will be played at Reinhart Field.
