THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 13, 2010) – Maritime freshman TJ Fitzsimons (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Wiregrass Ranch) (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) was named to the Skyline men's lacrosse weekly honor roll on Monday, as announced by conference commissioner Tracy King. The accolade comes after Fitzsimons' eight-point game in the Privateers' 25-0 shutout victory over Skyline-opponent Bard on Wednesday at Reinhart Field.
Fitzsimons scored two goals in the first quarter and added an assist on the first Privateer goal of the second. The freshman attacker found the back of the net three more times in the second quarter. He then recorded back-to-back assists in the third quarter to round out his scoring on the day. Fitzsimons also picked up two ground balls in the victory.
As a team, Maritime (3-7, 1-1 Skyline) currently ranks fifth in the conference in both scoring offense (9.50 goals per game) and ground balls (31.40 per game). Senior Stephen Doherty (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) (Yorktown, N.Y.) is tied for sixth in the Skyline with 1.56 assists per game. Classmate and goalie Colin Gallagher (Minneapolis, Minn./Westhill) (Minneapolis, Minn.) ranks fourth in the conference with a .521 save percentage, while his 12.29 saves per game is good for fifth.
