Women’s Soccer Ends 2010 Season With Road Loss At Mount Saint Mary

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2010) – The Maritime women's soccer team concluded its 2010 campaign with a 5-0 loss at conference opponent Mount Saint Mary Wednesday night up in Newburgh, N.Y. In defeat, the Privateers end the season with a 3-16 mark (2-8 Skyline), while the Blue Knights improve to 10-9 overall (6-4 Skyline) and earn a berth in the Skyline Conference Tournament beginning this weekend.

Senior goalkeeper Andria Thornton (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) recorded a persona; season-high 18 saves in the losing effort, while Blue Knights' keeper Megan Cotta stopped two Maritime shots on goal.

Sophomore forward Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) had both shots on goal for the Privateers and three shots in total, while senior co-captain Christina George (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, N.Y./Southold) recorded two shots in her final contest for Maritime.

Mount Saint Mary scored a goal in the eighth minute before adding two more just over a minute apart from each other in the 13th and 14th minutes. The score was 3-0 at the half. In the second half, the Blue Knights struck in the 61st minute and once again in the 68th minute on a penalty kick. Tara McDermott led Mount with a goal and an assist, as there were five different goal scorers on the night.
