Four Breakaway Goals Propel Mount Saint Mary To 6-0 Victory Over Privateers Women’s Soccer

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2009) – The Maritime women's soccer team was defeated, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field, allowing four breakaway goals to Mount Saint Vincent, who improved to 4-5-1 (2-1-1 Skyline) with the victory. In defeat, the Privateers fall to 6-5 overall and are now 1-3 in Skyline Conference action.

 

The Blue Knights scored their first two goals of the game on back-to-back breakaway tallies by forward Danielle Bucc, to take an early 2-0 lead less than 20 minutes in. The score would remain that way into halftime, with Mount Saint Mary holding a 13-5 shot advantage.

 

In the second half, the Blue Knights added four more goals and held on for the 6-0 win.

 

The Privateers return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Patchogue, Long Island to take on St. Joseph's College. Kickoff against the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 4 p.m.
