Men's Lacrosse Denied on the Road

THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men's lacrosse team lost their second game of the season to King's College on Saturday afternoon.  The 13-10 loss brings Maritime's record to 6-2 on the season.

The Privateers built up a 5-0 lead, scoring the only three goals of the first quarter, and the first two goals in the second.  Colin Gallagher (Minneapolis, Minn./Westhill) (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) gave up only 2 goals in the entire first half, helping his team to a 5-2 halftime lead.   Five different  Privateers scored in the first half, namely  Keith Fricke (White Plains, NY/White Plains) (White Plains, NY/White Plains), Lawrence Montreuil (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park), Dan Roach (Edgewood, MD/Edgewood) (Edgewood, MD/Edgewood), Stephen Doherty (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) (Yorktown, NY/Lakeland), and Andrew Marklin (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) (St. James, NY/Smithtown).

King's College came out in the third quarter and outscored Maritime 8-1, to take a 10-6 lead and never look back.  Doherty scored the only Maritime goal in the quarter.  The Privateers outscored King's 4-3 in the final quarter, but it want enough to overcome the 4 goal deficit.  Chris Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) scored twice in the quarter.  Montreuil added his third goal of the afternoon as well.

Gallagher finished the game with 9 saves.  The Privateers will be back in action again on Saturday at Kean University.  The game time has changed from 1:00PM, and will now begin at 5:00PM.
