Box Score Throggs Neck, NY – Senior attack
Kevin Swift (New Market, MD/Linganore) (New Market, MD/Linganore) scored three goals and added three assists after recovering from a knee injury he suffered earlier in the week, but other injuries would plague the Privateers as they drop their third game in a row to the Rams of Farmingdale State in a Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference match up Wednesday evening in Farmingdale, NY.
The Privateers broke out to an early lead, scoring five goals in the first period with Swift scoring two and assisting on one. Swift would score his third with 12:31 in the second period giving the Privateers a 6-1 lead. Maritime seemed to be in control, but then sophomore attack
Donald Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) suffered a leg injury that would prevent him from returning for the remainder of the game. With an already banged up attack line, the loss of Toby for the game would prove to be a big one considering he had already contributed three assists and one goal in just a little over one period of play.
The Rams quickly took advantage of the now depleted Privateers, scoring seven goals in the second period and followed that up with five more in the third. They were led by junior attack Jeremy Goohs (Merrick, NY/Calhoun) who finished the game with seven goals including the eventual game-winner with 13:54 left in the third period.
Junior goal keeper
Tim O’Hara (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) started in net for the Privateers, but would be pulled during the second period scoring spree by Farmingdale. He would leave the game with four saves. Freshman
Joseph Fasano (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) played in net for the remainder of the game, making 21 saves and giving up ten goals in his first action since back on March 25th.
Maritime returns to action on Saturday when they host the Ospreys of Richard Stockton College, in a big knickerbocker conference match up. That game will emanate from Reinhart field on the campus of Maritime College and is scheduled to begin at Noon.
