Danielle De Stefano completed her first season leading the Maritime women's volleyball team for the Fall 2014 season.

In her first season with the team, De Stefano was selected as the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year as she helped guide the squad to a program-best 12 wins as well as the team's first-ever playoff berth as the six seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament.

In addition to her award at the conclusion of the season, the team also had its first-ever individual player award winner as freshman Shannon Brady was named the league's Rookie of the Year, as well as an All-Conference First Team selection.

De Stefano comes to Maritime after serving as the head coach at Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School in East Elmhurst, N.Y., since August of 2012.

She was the first female head coach and first girl’s volleyball coach at McClancy, which was an all-boys school just a year before she arrived. De Stefano is also a coach at the Bayside Volleyball Club since 2012.

Prior to her time at McClancy, De Stefano held multiple positions at St. John’s Preparatory School in Astoria, N.Y., including head junior varsity volleyball coach, assistant varsity volleyball coach and assistant varsity softball coach. She was also a CYO volleyball coach at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, also in Astoria, Queens from 2004-2013.

Outside of volleyball, De Stefano has been active in local politics, and was a candidate for the New York City Council in 2013.

De Stefano is a graduate of St. Francis College in Brooklyn with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. A life-long resident of Astoria, Queens, she currently resides there with her husband Steve and children Gina, Jade and Rocco.
