Senior Nick Valente of the Maritime Dinghy Sailing Team, had a solid start to his senior season as he picked up the victory in laser competition at the Laser North 1 hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy this past weekend.

Valente amassed 55 points as he cruised to the victory, seven points ahead of his closest competition. Over the course of the weekend, he finished within the top five in 11 of his 14 races, with wins in three races.
