Stefanie May enters her second season as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at SUNY Maritime in 2019. May also serves as Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and the Senior Women Administrator.
May brings a wealth of coaching experience to the program. She has a coaching license as a United Soccer Coaches Coach Developer and is a graduate of the 2019 NCAA Women Coaches Academy class #47.
May served as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Widener University from 2004-2006. May led the team to a 5-11-2 record in her first year, before improving the team’s record to 10-6-2 in her second year. While at Widener, she had two student-athletes earn All-Conference second team honors in each of her two seasons.
Prior to Widener, May served as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at McDaniel College from 2003-2004. She helped the team to a 13-7 record. May was also the Assistant Coach at Stevenson University from 1997-1999. The team made their first ECAC tournament appearance during the 1999 season and had an overall record of 15-3-2.
She has coached at the high school level as the Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at the Latin School of Chicago from 2014-2016. While May was at the Latin School of Chicago, she helped guided the team to the 2015 Illinois High State Finals. At Rye Country Day, she coached the Girls Varsity and middle school teams from 2006-2011. May was the Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at Maryvale Preparatory School that captured the 2002 IAAM B Conference Championship.
May was a member of the US Region I Olympic Development Program coaching staff, Eastern Pennsylvania ODP staff, and Eastern NY ODP staff. She holds the United Soccer Coaches Advanced National, National, Coach Developer, Director of Coaching, Advanced & National Goalkeeping diplomas.
May graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Waynesburg College in 1997. She later went on to earn a pair of Master’s Degrees; the first was from Goucher College in 2000 in Teaching, while her second Master’s Degree came in 2012 in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California (Pa.) University.
