Kelvin Martinez

Kelvin Martinez was named to the Maritime women’s soccer coaching staff in the spring of 2015 and will begin his first season with the team for the fall of 2015.
 
Bringing a wealth of soccer knowledge to Maritime, Martinez will serve as assistant coach and will assist in the day-to-day operations of the team as well as help in training and recruiting efforts for the Privateer women’s soccer program.
 
Most recently, Martinez served as the Athletic Director for I9 sports camp. While there he worked in developmental soccer academies and coordinated the development and expansion of the girls’ soccer program at Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx.
 
He has also worked as a coach and coordinator at numerous soccer organizations throughout New York State for the past decade, and coaching at the competitive level for the last five years prior to his arrival at Maritime.
 
A former Western New England Prep School Soccer Association (WYNEPSSA) All-Star selection, Martinez played collegiately at Union College in New York’s Capital Region where he was one of the team’s scoring leaders during his time with the Dutchmen.
 
He played for the Blackwatch Professional Development of the PDL for one year.  In 2013, Kelvin helped the varsity soccer program at the Riverdale Country School reach quarterfinals of the state tournament as an assistant coach. Then in 2014, spearheaded the junior varsity program.
 
Martinez holds a USSF “E” License Certification and is currently pursuing his USSF “D” License. He also holds a NSCAA National Diploma and goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma.
 
He and his wife, Nora, reside in the Bronx, with their first child, Isadora.
