Biography

2020: Started in six of seven games for the Privateers and was off to a hot start with a .435 batting average and 10 hits. He also finished with a 1.000 fielding percentage at the catcher position. He recorded two hits or more in both games against Plattsburgh St., Northland College, and Muskingum.

2019: Appeared in 18 games and started in 20 of them with a .258 batting average on 16 hits, six doubles, and nine RBIs. At the catcher position, he finshed the year with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. His season was highlighted by a 2-3 performance at the plate against Kenyon with two RBIs as well as 3-5 with three RBIs against Staten Island. The majority of the second half of his season was hampered by an injury, but at the end of the year he earned the Play of the Year award for his SportsCenter Top 10 play against Plattsburgh St.

2018: Appeared in 16 games for the Privateers during his first season with the team and made nine starts…hit .273 on the season with nine hits in 33 at bats…also had one double and one home run on the year while driving in seven runs…made his Maritime debut in the team’s win over Southern Vermont (3/3)…made his first start of the season and connected on two hits in the second game of a doubleheader with Lebanon Valley (3/8)…was 2-for-3 with three runs driven in and also walked once while helping the team to a conference win over Yeshiva (3/16)…had one hit and stole a base in the team’s matchup with Ramapo (3/20)…had a double in league play against St. Joseph’s (LI) (3/25)…went 1-for-1 and drove in two runs as he launched his first home run of the season against Mount St. Vincent (4/15)…had a single and drove in a run during the  regular season finale against Old Westbury (4/28).

2017 (at Clark): Played for the Clark Cougars during his freshman season in Worcester, Mass. …appeared in 14 games as a rookie including six games in NEWMAC league play…made his collegiate debut in the second game of a doubleheader against Keene State in late February…recorded the first two hits of his career including one home run while scoring three runs and driving in three runs against Wittenberg…notched his second career home run and drove in three runs in the second game of a doubleheader against WPI…went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in his final appearance of the year against Keene State.
 
High School: Graduated from Bethpage High School in Bethpage, N.Y. in 2016…played four seasons of baseball for the Golden Eagles…was an All-League selection as a senior and was also named the Team’s Most Valuable Player after hitting .308 with 26 RBIs as a senior…also played two seasons of basketball and one year each of soccer and football…was a team captain in soccer, basketball and baseball during his senior year…earned the Scholar-Athlete Award as a senior with the soccer team…also played club baseball for the New York Steelheads.
 
Personal: Son of Michele and Jarrod Vera…has two siblings; Victoria and Max…plans to graduate with a degree in International Transportation and Trade while at Maritime.
