Russell Chambliss begins his second season as a part of the Maritime Baseball coaching staff in 2014-15 season.
He helped the team to a 13-win season overall in 2014, while the team won nine games in Skyline Conference contests en route to the #5 seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament. He helped the team en route to a pair of All-Conference selections as junior Matthew Sollin and freshman Brian McLaughlin were named to the conference second team at the conclusion of the regular season.
Chambliss came to Maritime after most recently serving his past several years as the coach of Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus, N.J. He also conducted numerous hitting and fielding clinics around the Bergen County area during that time as well.
Prior to his stint in Paramus, Chambliss played professional baseball for the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in 2000 and was part of a team that led the eight-team league in hitting with a combined .280 batting average.
Before independent baseball, he was a part of the New York Yankees organization for two seasons, appearing in 86 games for the Oneonta Yankees of the New York-Penn League.
Chambliss was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 1997 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft out of his alma mater, Washington University of St. Louis in Missouri.
He is the son of former Major League Baseball All Star and Gold Glove Award Winner, Chris Chambliss. Chris played 17 seasons in the Majors for the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves.
