Paul Sasso 2012 ICS

Paul Sasso

Paul Sasso enters his sixth year as assistant coach of the Maritime baseball team in 2015.

Since joining the staff for the 2010 season, the team has qualified for the Skyline Conference Tournament every season. Including a deep run into the 2013 league tournament that saw Maritime upend fourth-seeded St. Joseph's and third-seeded Purchase before being eliminated by Old Westbury.

Primarily serving as the instructor for pitchers, Sasso's staffs have become a strength of the program. In 2014, the Privateer pitching staff earned 13 victories including the first two no-hitters in modern team history as senior Nick Sarna collected a perfect game against Yeshiva on March 11, followed by classmate Trevor Cannella spinning a no-hit gem against St. Joseph's on April 5.

In 2011, the team combined for it's best ERA under the tutelage of Sasso as the team allowed 131 earned runs over 245 1/3 innings for a 4.81 ERA.

Bringing over 30 years of coaching experience to Maritime, Sasso was the pitching coach for 10 seasons at Division II Molloy College in Rockville Centre, N.Y. and also spent two years at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, N.Y.

In addition, he has worked many camps and clinics throughout the New York area. In 20 years as head coach of three baseball organizations in Long Island and Brooklyn, he has been part of 15 local and regional championship teams.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Cadets Baseball Club.

Sasso attended Brooklyn College and currently lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.
