THROGGS NECK, NY – Kelci Hegg, a former Division I player at Vanderbilt and experienced head coach at the college, high school and club levels, has been announced as the new Head Coach of the Maritime College women's soccer program.  She comes to Fort Schuyler after two years as an assistant at Skyline Conference rival Mount St. Vincent, where she helped the Dolphins reach the Skyline Championship Game in back-to-back seasons.

"I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the women's soccer program at Maritime," Hegg said.  "This is more than just a coaching position to me.  It is an opportunity to become part of a community, invest in the lives of our student-athletes, and help them grow into confident, resilient leaders both on and off the field.  I am excited to build meaningful relationships with our players, families, alumni and the entire Privateer community while creating a culture where our student-athletes feel valued, supported, challenged and proud to represent Maritime College."

While at Mount St. Vincent, Hegg collaborated with the head coach to design an offensive gameplan that resulted in the team averaging nearly 20 percent more shots on goal per match.  She also coordinated the Dolphins' academic monitoring and strength & conditioning programs.  In addition, Hegg was responsible for recruiting high-caliber student-athletes to a squad that went 24-10-4 overall and 18-2-2 in Skyline play during her time in Riverdale.

Since 2020, Hegg has served as the Director of Coaching with the Westchester Rush in Somers, NY.  She oversaw the coaching staff and players at eight different age groups, as well as assisting with college placement for the older age groups.  Hegg also managed the club's annual budget.

From 2020-24, Hegg was the varsity girls' soccer Head Coach at Somers High School.  Her teams earned five consecutive league titles and made three appearances in the sectional championships, winning twice.  Somers reached the New York State Class AA semifinals in 2023.

Prior to her time at Somers, Hegg spent eight seasons as the head coach at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY.  She led an incredible turnaround from a program that had not won a game in six years before her arrival to posting its first-ever .500 record.  Hegg maintained a roster of 20-plus players while also coordinating team travel, scheduling and other logistics.

A standout at Vanderbilt, she still holds the Commodores' all-time record for goals in a game (5).  Hegg later played professionally for the New York Magic in the USL W-League from 2009-14.
