Maritime Drops 4-1 Decision to Bard

THROGGS NECK, NY – After opening Skyline Conference play with a win on Tuesday night, the Maritime College women's soccer team returned home on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference affair against Bard.  The contest was level at halftime, but the Raptors (2-3-1) scored three times in the second half to notch a 4-1 victory over the Privateers (2-3-0) at Reinhart Field.

Bard got on the board early, as Emma Kuntz scored in the sixth minute.  The Privateers responded in the 17th minute, though.  Anya Josberger (Coxsackie, NY) took a free kick and placed it directly into the box.  Kathryn Sandford (Floral Park, NY) headed the ball towards the net and Bard goalkeeper Sam Finn got her fingers on it, but deflected it under the crossbar and in for the game-tying score.

Abby Frazier put the Raptors back in front with her goal in the 58th minute, then Waleska Brito knocked in a rebound from 25 yards out in the 69th minute.  Barely two minutes later, Kylie Quinn capped the scoring, as Bard earned a 4-1 win.

Sandford's goal was her fifth of the season, tying her for the team lead.  Liz Pomaro (Farmingville, NY) (1-3-0) recorded a pair of saves in the losing effort.

Finn made one save in net for the Raptors before giving way to Seymone Rosenberg at halftime.  Rosenberg (2-3-0) was credited with the win after holding Maritime scoreless over the final 45 minutes, and she also tallied an assist on the final Bard goal.

This marked the start of a four-game homestand for the Privateers.  Maritime (1-0-0 Skyline) resumes its conference schedule with a 7 p.m. matchup against defending Skyline champion Farmingdale (1-5-1, 1-0-0 Skyline) on Tuesday.
