Box Score Throggs Neck, NY - In their second game of the 2018 season, the Maritime Privateers women's soccer team came up short against the City College of New York Beavers by a score of 3-0. The Privateers now fall to 0-2 on the young season while City College of New York improves to 3-1.
Senior
Cammie Havens (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough) led Maritime with a superb performance at goal. Havens, the Privateers all-time leader in goals saved, stopped 14 attempts by the Beavers. The three City College of New York goals came in the second period after Havens recorded nine saves in the first period. Havens out-saved the CCNY goalie by a 14-2 margin.
In the first period, the Privateers defense repeated their showing in their last game by holding the Beavers offense to only their second scoreless period of play this season. The defensive energy was commanded by junior
Kayla Kelly (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville). In the second period, Kelly made an impressive sliding block near Maritime goal territory which would have turned into an City College of New York shot attempt.
On offense the Privateers received shots on goal by sophomore
Caitlin Etienne (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and junior
Leigh Kouril (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown). The two other shots on the afternoon came from Kelly and sophomore
MacKenzie Fabiani (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point). The Privateers had the advantage in corner kicks by a 4-2 differential.
The Privateers (0-2) will resume play this Wednesday against John Jay on Reinhart Field at 7:30 P.M.
