THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Maritime College Director of Athletics
Kristofer Schnatz has announced the introduction of the Athletics Advisory Board beginning with the 2018-19 academic year.
Â
The role of the Advisory Board is to support the department in striving to be the foremost intercollegiate athletics program, as well as a point of institutional pride and distinction for Maritime College. Through counsel and advocacy, the group will champion new as well as continuing initiatives, raising awareness of the department's strategic direction and successes, while emphasizing alignment with the college's vision and mission.
Â
The alumni group of key influencers brings distinguished achievement in professional endeavors and has contributed to the success of Maritime College athletics programs spanning its 16 varsity programs, with up to three advocates appointed to the board per team, for a term of two years.
 Â
The group's goals and objectives include providing advice and council, as well as advocacy for the Department of Athletics administration. The board will consistently engage athletics alumni, parents and friends in on- and off-campus venues by identifying engagement priorities and promote meaningful interaction between alumni and current student-athletes.
Â
The inaugural meeting of the newly formed Maritime College Athletics Advisory Board will be held on August 2, 2018 on the Maritime College campus. The group will conduct two in-person meetings annually as determined by the Board of Directors and participate in conference call meetings as necessary.
Â
At the time of the inaugural meeting, the board has 19 members set, including 11 that will be participating in the inaugural meeting.
