City College of New York got on board early, plating one run right away on a Privateer error. Ammirati got Maritime out of a bases loaded jam, ending the inning with a strikeout. In the bottom half of the inning, Costleigh got things started with a walk and stolen base before Deddo launched a home run off the scoreboard to take a 2-1 lead.
Ammirati mastered the second inning, retiring all three Beavers in order. Back at the plate, the Privateers reached Alwan, Parilla and Buckshaw followed by a Costleigh single to right centerfield to score the Privateers third run of the game. Maritime kept rallying through the second as Semler singled to center field to score Buckshaw; and McLaughlin blasted a two-run bomb to give Maritime an 8-1 lead and force a Beaver pitching change.
The home runs kept coming for the Privateers in the third as Buckshaw cranked a solo shot over the right center field wall. Maritime kept that offense rolling with Costleigh and Deddo singles.
Maritime plated two more in the fifth inning, taking advantage of a couple of fielding errors by the Beavers. City College of New York attempted a rally in the top of the seventh inning plating two runs on two hits, but Maritime responded once again scoring two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach for the Beavers.
The Privateers, now 12-7 overall and 6-0 in the Skyline, return to action on Saturday for a conference doubleheader at Purchase. Starting time is set for 11:00 a.m. on the Purchase Baseball field.
