BRONX, N.Y. – The Maritime Women's Soccer team fell on the road to Lehman on Friday afternoon, as the team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Lightning on South Field.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Cammie Havens (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough) had 11 saves on the match to lead the way for the Privateers.
The Lightning got on the board just once in the first half as the Lightning scored 14:50 into the contest to take an early lead.
After the halftime break, the Privateers fell behind 2-0 in the 60th minute.
Seconds after the goal, junior
Jessica Yee (Freehold, N.J./Freehold) came down the field and recorded a shot. However, the Lightning goalkeeper stopped the shot to keep Maritime at nil.
Lehman added one more goal to in the closing minutes to take the 3-0 advantage, and was able to thwart the Maritime attack to hold on for the shutout.
Maritime (1-1) will take the remainder of the weekend to focus on its next opponent, which comes in the form of the Stockton Ospreys on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Southern New Jersey.
