THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime Women's Soccer team finished off its 2015 season with season at home against the Brooklyn Bulldogs, and fell by a 2-1 score.
Prior to the matchup, Maritime recognized its three-member senior class as
Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside),
Caroline Reynolds (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and
Grace Suhovsky (Island Park, N.Y./Holy Trinity) on the field prior to the match.
Freshman
Courtney Salatto (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) scored Maritime's lone goal of the match with less than 10 seconds to go in the match.
Salatto, along with Reynolds led the team with two shots apiece as Maritime totaled six shots on the match. Also recording shots in the match were sophomore
Jessica Yee (Freehold, N.J./Freehold) and freshman
Krista Deleva (Sound Beach, N.Y./Miller Place).
In goal, freshman
Cammie Havens (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough) recoded nine saves in the match while playing the full 90 minutes of play.
All the scoring in the match was done in the second half, as Brooklyn took a 2-0 lead on a pair of perfectly-timed through balls. Maritime snapped the shutout streak on Salatto's unassisted goal with 6.7 seconds left on the clock.
Maritime finishes its season with a 6-12 record with a 2-7 mark in the Skyline Conference, the team will look ahead and build towards the 2016 season.
