Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Maritime women's soccer team opened up its 2014 Skyline schedule with a loss to the Purchase Panthers on Saturday afternoon, as the Privateers fell by a score of 4-0.

In goal, junior
Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) collected 14 saves for the Privateers on the afternoon. While freshman
Gayle Woods (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) led the team offensively with three shots, including two shots on goal.

Purchase stormed out of the gates quickly as it registered two shots in the first two minutes of play. As play continued into the eighth minute, Purchase broke through with the first goal of the contest on a chip shot into the top right corner of the net to make the score 1-0.

As play progressed into the latter stages of the half, the Panthers added onto their lead with a goal in the 34th minute of play to make the score 2-0. The Privateers were able to muster just one shot in the half as Woods took one in the 41st minute. The game progressed to halftime with Purchase holding onto its two-goal advantage.

After making adjustments at halftime, the Privateers recorded the first shot of the second period as sophomore
Jillian Raimo (Islip, N.Y./Islip) sent a shot wide of the mark in the opening minute. Minutes later, the Panthers took their first shot of the half and were able to put the ball past Hoar to make the score 3-0.

Purchase tacked on a late goal in the closing minutes to add to its lead and make the score 4-0, after a pass off the end line was sent to the top of the six-yard box and into the goal four the marker.

Total shots were in favor of Purchase at a 31-5 margin, while corner kicks were also in favor of the Panthers at a 10-3 clip.

Hoar takes the loss, despite making 14 saves as she allowed all four Purchase goals. Earning the win was Imani Humphries, who collected two saves on the afternoon.

Maritime (2-5-1, 0-1 Skyline) will look to regroup on Tuesday evening on Reinhart Field, when the Privateers welcome in the St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears for a 7 p.m. start. Purchase (2-3-0, 1-0 Skyline) will head to the road for its next match, as the team will take on John Jay on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m.
