Fox Nets First Career Goal in League Matchup against Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The Maritime women's soccer team fell to the Old Westbury Panthers on Saturday afternoon by the score of 9-1 at Panther Park on Long Island.
 
In the game, senior Gabrielle Fox (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) scored the first goal of her career during the first half of the match. In goal, junior Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) registered three saves through the first 54:13 of the match, before making way to freshman Paige Frankel (Hackensack, N.J./Immaculate Conception) made eight stops through the remainder of the match.
 
In the game, Old Westbury scored just over 10 minutes into the period to take the early lead. Just minutes later Fox found the back of the net from a pass from freshman Gayle Woods (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) to even up the game at one.
 
Old Westbury added three more goals in the first half, before adding five more in the second half as the Panthers cruised to a 9-1 victory.
 
In addition to the saves by Hoar and Frankel, the Privateers also had a team save.  Earning the win was Caitlin Thomas, who made one save on the match through the first half of play. Melissa Muller played the second half of the game and did not allow a goal, while making just one save as well.
 
Maritime (5-8-1, 1-4 Skyline) will next travel to take on Mount St. Mary on Wednesday evening in Newburgh, N.Y. at 7 p.m.
Old Westbury (7-6-1, 1-4 Skyline) will also travel next to take on Farmingdale on Tuesday, October 21 at 3 p.m.
