Privateers Upended by Mount St. Vincent on Senior Night

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime women's soccer team fell at home to the Mount St. Vincent Dolphins on Wednesday evening on Reinhart Field by the score of 7-0.
 
Prior to the match, the Privateers honored their two departing seniors as a part of "Senior Night," with Gabrielle Fox (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and Jaime Rocco (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) being recognized for their contributions to the program over the last four years.
 
As for the game, Maritime was led by junior goalkeeper Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East), who had 11 saves on the evening. Junior Jori Cooper (Chazy, N.Y./Chazy Central Rural) came on late in the game and made one save through the final 16:15 of regulation.
 
In the game, Mount St. Vincent scored three times in the opening period including a pair of goals that were just 10 seconds apart. Megan DeRosa of Mount St. Vincent scored the next three goals for the Dolphins in the second half to give her four for the evening. Mount St. Vincent added one more goal to cap off the scoring at seven goals on the match.
 
Earning the win in goal was Elizabeth Martin, who did not register a save through the first 62:34 of the match. Kerilyn O'Keefe logged the final 27:26 of the game and also did not need to make a save as the pair split the shutout.
 
Maritime (5-7-1, 1-3 Skyline) will head on the road for its next three matches beginning with a 12 p.m. start on Saturday afternoon at Old Westbury as Skyline Conference play continues. Mount St. Vincent (11-2-0, 3-1 Skyline) will return home to battle Sage for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday afternoon.
