Maritime (4-2, 0-0 Skyline) vs. Briarcliffe (0-4)
Wednesday, September 18, 2013 – 7:30 p.m.
Reinhart Field – Throggs Neck, N.Y.
The Maritime women's soccer team welcomes in the Bulldogs of Briarcliffe College this evening with a kickoff beginning shortly after the conclusion of the men's soccer contest against Lehman College, approximate kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
Maritime looks to get back on the winning track as the Privateers enter on just their second loss of the season, coming at the hands of the Keystone Giants on Saturday afternoon by the score of 3-1. In the loss, senior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) scored the lone goal for the Privateers, it was also the first goal that Keystone had allowed during the 2013 season.
Briarcliffe comes off of four straight loses, and are in search of its first win of the season. In their last game, the Bulldogs lost to John Jay by a score of 2-0. Earlier this season, the Privateers defeated John Jay by a 3-1 score.
All-Time Series
This is the first ever meeting between Maritime and Briarcliffe.
First-Time Foes
The Privateers are 3-0 against teams they have never played before, with wins coming earlier this season against Thomas (3-1), Lehman (3-0) and King's (N.Y.) (2-0). Maritime looks to keep that trend continuing this evening.
Solid Backline
Thus far in 2013, the Maritime defense has allowed just eight goals through the team's first six games. Anchored by the likes of junior captain Gabrielle Fox (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) classmates Jaime Rocco (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches), Addyson Vignola (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park), and freshman Jane Quinn (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) along with solid goalkeeping play by sophomore Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East), the Privateers look to hold their opponents to a low offensive output again tonight.
Honor Roll for Trenkamp
Trenkamp was named to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll on Monday afternoon, as the New Jersey native scored once in each of the team's two games against King's (N.Y.) and Keystone. For Trenkamp, she has now scored in five straight games, tying her own program record set at the end of the 2011 season.
