BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2012) – The Maritime women's soccer team scored its first goal since Sept. 8, but lost to York College, 2-1, in overtime in a non-conference contest Monday at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn. The Privateers fall to 0-11 on the season in defeat, while the Cardinals improve to 3-6-1.
Freshman
Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) scored for the Privateers in the 57th minute on a penalty kick that tied the game at 1-1. In goal, freshman
Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) recorded one save in the losing effort.
Both York goals came off the foot of sophomore Carolina Munoz, who tallied the first goal of the game in the 26th minute. The game-winner came on a free kick from just outside the box just five minutes into the first overtime period.
Maritime returns to action on Wednesday, when the Privateers welcome in Skyline opponent Mount St. Vincent. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
