Trenkamp Nets Fiftieth Career Goal In 2-1 Season-Ending Win Over John Jay

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2011) – Maritime junior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) tallied both of the Privateers' goals Thursday night in the squad's 2-1 season-ending victory over John Jay. With the two tallies, the forward has reached the 50-goal plateau for her career, which also happens to be a Maritime program-high.
 
        Freshman Kadie Hook (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) an assist on both of the goals on the night. All the scoring came in the second half of the game, as Trenkamp's first goal came after she received the pass from Hook down low and had a lead on the defender. She dribbled to the right side of the net and fired a shot into the left side to give Maritime a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute. Just over a minute later in the 49th minute, she fired a shot through traffic from about 30 yards out that beat the diving keeper into the bottom left side of the net.
 
        John Jay responded in the 61st minute, when sophomore Brenda Pitts found the back of the net off a pass from classmate Ariadna DiFabrizio. The Bloodhounds nearly scored again just a few minutes later, but a shot by freshman Bergelie Louis went just wide. In the 74th minute, John Jay nearly had the equalizer, but a shot destined for the top left by freshman Stephannie Rengifo was was parried away by a sprawling Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin).
 
        Marietta ended the night with five saves, while sophomore Marcelina Kopec for John Jay recorded four stop in the losing effort.
 
        The Privateers end the 2011 season with a 4-13-2 record, while John Jay falls to 6-13 in defeat.
