Women’s Soccer Game Called After First Over Due To Darkness; Privateers Tie Mount Saint Vincent, 3-3

        YONKERS, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2011) – The Maritime women's soccer tied the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 3-3, Thursday at Fleming Park in Yonkers. The game was called by the officials after the first 10-minute overtime was finished due to darkness. The tie moves the Privateers to 2-13-2 on the season (0-6-1 Skyline), while the Dolphins move to 3-9-1 (1-5-1 Skyline).
 
        Junior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) scored all three goals for Maritime and they all came in the first half. Freshman Kadie Hook (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) and senior Ashley Edington (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) had assists on two of the tallies. The Privateers were winning, 3-0 at the half.
 
        Mount Saint Vincent came out strong in the second half and scored two goals within four minutes of each other in the 62nd and 66th minutes, both off the foot of freshman Danielle Heumegni. The equalizer didn't come until the 86th minute, when sophomore Laura Carr found the back of the net to force overtime.
 
        Trenkamp had the only shot of the first overtime for either team, which sailed high of the net. The period came to an end and both teams were ready for the second overtime, but the officials decided it was best to call the game a tie.
 
        In goal, junior Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) recorded eight saves, while her counterpart for Mount Saint Vincent, senior Kara McNish had five saves.
 
        Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 25, when the squad plays host to Skyline opponent NYU-Poly. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Reinhart Field. Prior to the game, there will be a senior day ceremony for the Privateers' five seniors: Noelle Gajeski (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East), Samantha Easterman (Amityville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) (Amityville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point), Laura Palino (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and Ashley Edington (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's).
