Privateers Lose Fourth-Straight One-Goal Decision Against Alfred Sunday, 3-2

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2011) – The Maritime women's soccer team lost its fourth-straight one-goal game on Sunday, this to Alfred University at Reinhart Field. The defeat drops the Privateers to 2-13-1 overall, while the Saxons improve to 3-10.
 

        Alfred score three times in the first half, but junior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) brought Maritime to within one goal, 3-2, with two scores that were just three minutes apart in the second half. Freshman Kadie Hook (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) assisted on the first tally.
 

        Saxon senior Alicia Schuler tallied two goals and an assist to lead her team to the victory. Freshman Rachael Williams had one goal and one assist.
 

        In goal for Maritime, junior Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) made eight saves. Alfred used all three of its goalkeepers. Junior Ashley Frazell started and earned the victory with two stops in the first 45 minutes of the game. She was replaced at halftime by freshman Brianna Opperman, who allowed the two Maritime goals, but also made two saves. Opperman was subbed out for classmate Alicia Hanes, who played the final 31:45 of the game and saw no shots on goal come her way.
 

        Maritime returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 20, when the team travels to take on cross-Bronx, Skyline Conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Fleming Field in Yonkers, N.Y.
