Women’s Soccer Edged By City College, 2-1

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 10, 2011) – The Maritime women's soccer team lost at home to the City College of New York Monday night by the close score of 2-1. The Privateers' record falls to 2-11-1 overall on the season, while the Beavers improve to 5-5.
 
Maritime fell behind 2-0 on two goals by CCNY's Dznidzi Asamoah-Wade in the 24th and 37th minutes. Freshman Kadie Hook (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) scored for Maritime in the 43rd minute off a pass by junior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J.//Seneca). That would be all the scoring on the day, as neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half.
 
Junior keeper Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) made 10 saves in the losing effort, while the Beavers' Nicole Carroll had six saves to earn the victory.
 
The Privateers return to action on Friday, Oct. 14, when they play host to Skyline opponent Purchase College. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
