Women’s Soccer Drops Conference Contest To St. Joseph’s, 7-1, Saturday

        MEDFORD, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2011) – The Maritime women's soccer team travelled out to Suffolk County on Long Island Saturday afternoon to take on Skyline-foe St. Joseph's. The Privateers dropped the game, 7-1, to fall to 2-8-1 overall (0-4 Skyline) on the season, while the Golden Eagles improved to 6-3-1 (2-0 Skyline).
 

        Senior Samantha Easterman (Amityville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) (Amityville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) scored Maritime's lone goal of the game off a cross pass by junior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca). The goal came in the 17th minute and made the score 2-1, in favor of St. Joseph's. The Eagles had seven different goal scorers on the day, but sophomore Samantha Garcia led her team with one goal and two assists.
 

        In goal, junior Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) made 10 saves, while her counterpart for St. Joe's sophomore Kayla Flowers registered two saves for the victory.
 

        The Privateers return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 4, when they play host to Skyline opponent Farmingdale St. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
