Women’s Soccer Edged By Mount Saint Vincent, 1-0

             THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 27, 2010) – The Maritime women's soccer team lost a close battle to conference opponent Mount St. Vincent, 1-0, Monday night at Reinhart Field. The defeat drops the Privateers record to 0-9 (0-2 Skyline) on the season, while the Dolphins improve to 2-6 (1-3 Skyline).

             Neither team could find the back of the net during the first half, as Mount St. Vincent outshot Maritime 3-1. Both teams had one shot on goal in the half, which were both saved by the keepers.

 The Privateers had many of the first clear opportunities in the second half, when sophomore Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Seneca, N.J./Tabernacle) busted past the defenders down low twice, but her shots were denied by Dolphins' keeper Kara McNish.

             Mount St. Vincent broke through in the 80th minute, when Brittany Kehoe found the back of the net after a breakaway. She beat Maritime keeper Andria Thornton (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) to the right side for the tally.

             Thornton made seven saves on the night in the losing effort, while McNish finished the game with three saves.

             The Privateers return to action this Wednesday, Sept. 29, when they play host to Skyline Conference-opponent St. Joseph's-L.I. Kickoff against the Golden Eagles is set for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
