Three Second-Half Goals Lead Keystone To 3-0 Victory Over Women’s Soccer

            LA PLUME, Pa. (Sept. 15, 2010) – Despite a strong first half by the Maritime women's soccer team, Keystone College scored three second-half goals to claim the victory Tuesday afternoon at Ned Boehm Field. The loss drops the Privateers' record to 0-6 on the season, while the Giants improve to 2-1 overall.

 

Junior goalkeeper Ashley Edington (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Bayshore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was strong in net in the first half, as she stopped all four of Keystone's shots on goal. The Giants broke through in the 57th minute, however, when Charlice Brink found the back of the net. Sara Gottschall added another tally just over four minutes later to put Keystone up, 2-0. A late goal by Samantha Littleford ended the scoring on the day, while Giants keeper Sam Finch earned her first shutout of the season.

 

For the Privateers, sophomore Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) recorded two shots on goal and junior Samantha Easterman (Amityville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) (Amityville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) registered one shot at the net.

 

Maritime returns to action on Friday for their home-opener against SUNY Potsdam. Kickoff against the Bears is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field. The contest is part of a soccer double header, as the Maritime men's team will be taking on the College of Staten Island prior to the women at 5 p.m.
