NEW LONDON, Conn. (Sept. 12, 2010) – The Maritime women's soccer team lost to the Coast Guard Academy, 6-0, Saturday at the Bears' Cabot Memorial Field. The loss drops the Privateers' record to 0-5, while Cost Guard improves to an even 2-2.
Five different girls scored for the Bears, as Angela Ingram tallied two goals and added an assist. Coast Guard brought a 2-0 lead into halftime and in the second stanza, found the back of the net four times under 16 minutes apart.
Senior Andria Thornton (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) made a season-high 11 saves for Maritime in the losing effort.
The Privateers return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 14, when they take on Keystone State in Pennsylvania. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
