THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2010) – The Maritime women's soccer team defeated NYU-Poly, 10-0, Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn. The win improves the Privateers' record to 1-10 on the season (1-3 Skyline), while the Blue Jays fall to 0-3 (0-2 Skyline).
Sophomore Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) recorded five goals in the game, three in the first half and two more in the second. She now leads the team with 15 points on the season (seven goals and one assist).
Also picking up goals for Maritime were junior Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point), freshman Alicia Phrachansiri (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata Senior) (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata Senior), junior Sam Easterman (Amityville, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), senior Christina George (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, N.Y./Southold) and freshman Lindsay L'Hommedieu (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East).
Phrachansiri and Easterman each chipped in two assists apiece, while Saporito, George and sophomore Molly Divens (Beltsville, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) (Beltsville, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) also recorded helpers in the win.
In goal, senior Andria Thornton (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) registered her first shutout and victory of the year.
The Privateers head on the road again on Tuesday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Westbury, N.Y. to take on Skyline-opponent SUNY Old Westbury. Kickoff against the Panthers (5-5, 3-1 Skyline) is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Panther Park.
