Women’s Soccer Drops Last Home Game To Sage On Senior Day

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2010) – The Maritime women's soccer team lost to Skyline-opponent Sage, 8-0, Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field. The Privateers fall to 3-15 overall on the season (2-7 Skyline), while the Gators improve to 7-6 (5-4 Skyline).

Prior to the game, the Maritime women's soccer team paid tribute to its first pair of four-year student athletes to graduate from the program in the short history of the squad – seniors Rachael Friedrich (Nyack, N.Y./Nyack) (Nyack, N.Y./Nyack) and Christina George (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, N.Y./Southold).

Sophomore forward Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) recorded a team-high five shots in the contest, including two on goal, and provided most of the Maritime offense, but could not find the back of the net. Sage registered four goals in the first half and four more in the second stanza.

Privateer keeper, senior Andria Thornton (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) recorded 12 saves in the losing effort, while the Gators' Brittan McDonald stopped Trenkamp twice.

Maritime returns to action with its regular season finale at Skyline-opponent Mount Saint Mary in Newburgh, N.Y. on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
