THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2009) – The Maritime women's soccer team shutout the College of Saint Elizabeth, 2-0, in a nail-biter Monday night at Reinhart Field. With the win, the Privateers improve to 5-2 on the season, while the Screaming Eagles fall to 0-4.

Freshman Jorrie Trenkamp, who earlier in the day was named to the Skyline Conference Weekly Women's Soccer Honor Roll, scored the two goals that were the difference in the game. Her first, in the 11th minute, was off a feed by junior Christina George. Trenkamp received the pass on the left side, stepped around the defender and blasted her shot passed the sprawling Saint Elizabeth keeper to give the Maritime the early 1-0 lead.

The score would remain the same well into the second half, where the Privateers fired shot-after-shot but were denied an insurance goal. However, Trenkamp would tally her second goal of the game and team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 88th minute on a shot from the right side.

In net, freshman keeper Courtney Marietta recorded her third shutout of the season, turning aside all three Screaming Eagles shots on goal.

The women's soccer team returns to action this Thursday, Sept. 24, when the Privateers play host to their first conference opponent of the season, the Panthers of SUNY Purchase. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
