THROGS NECK, NY - Senior Night at Maritime College ended with a 91-66 victory over the visiting Raptors from Bard College.  Four seniors were recognized prior to the game for their hard work and dedication to the program, namely Tim Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep), Steve Kubacki (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), Joe Bracaglia (Jamaica, NY/Martin Van Buren), and Rahshawn Pringle (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglas).  The four combined for 43 total points, with Dougherty leading the way with 17 points.

The Privateers scored the game's first two points, and never trailed or let Bard tie the game the rest of the way.  The Raptors cut a late first half lead of 13 down to as little as 3 points, but the Privateers regained control and ended the half up 7 points at 46-39.

Tough defense and 65.5% shooting from the field helped Maritime extend their lead to as much as 28 points halfway through the second.  Everybody on the Privateer bench saw time, and everyone netted at least 2 points.  Following Dougherty's 17 was Kevin Josey (Staten Island, N.Y./Monroe Webster) (Staten Island, NY/Monroe Webster) with 14 points, seniors Joe Bracaglia and Rahshawn Pringle (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) each had 12 points, while Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College High) (Brooklyn, NY/Middle College) rounded out the double digit scorers with 10.  Eddie Egbuta (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) came off the bench to play 14 minutes, in which he scored 6 points, pulled down 6 boards, had two assists, and blocked one shot.

Not only did the win secure a home playoff game in the conference quarterfinals on Tuesday (team is TBA), the Privateers are guaranteed a third seed in the tournament thanks to Mount Saint Vincent losing their game to Old Westbury this evening.  Despite the possibility of a tie between the Privateers and the Panthers, Maritime holds the tiebreaker over Old Westbury because the Privateers defeated the top team in the conference, Farmingdale, early in the season.

Picked to finish 4th in the pre-season polls, the Privateers once again surpassed the expectations of the conference coaches, and stand at 14-10 (11-6) on the season.  The final regular season game of the year will be played at St. Joseph's College on Saturday at 4:30PM.
