Women’s Soccer Falls To Sage, 7-0, In Season-Finale

ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 31, 2009) - The Maritime women's soccer team lost its season-finale to The Sage Colleges, 7-0, on the road on Saturday. With the loss, the Privateers end the 2009 campaign with a program-best 8-10-1 record (2-7 Skyline), while the Gators improve to 8-7-1 (5-4 Skyline).

 

In net, Maritime keeper, freshman Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin), turned aside 12 of Sage's 19 shots on goal and the Gators outshot the Privateers 31-3 overall in the two halves of play, getting shots from sophomore AudryAnna Ward (Youngsville, N.Y./Lake Huntington) and freshmen Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) and Meghan Burke (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner ).

 

The Privateers earned more wins in 2009 then the first four seasons of the program combined, they were led by Trenkamp, who had a phenomenal freshman campaign, tallying a team-high 16 goals to go along with six assists for 38 points. Junior co-captain Kaitlin Murray (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional) ranked second on the squad with 24 points (11 goals and two assists), while the other junior co-captain, Christina George (Southold, N.Y./Southold), had a team-high 10 assists and finished the season with 16 points.
