BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. (Oct. 28, 2009) - The Maritime women's soccer team defeated the Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday night at the Bucs Clean Harbors Stadium. With the win, the Privateers improve to 8-9-1, while Mass. Maritime falls to 0-15.
Leading Maritime was sophomore forward Sam Easterman, who tallied two goals added one assist in the victory. The Privateers also got one-goal and one-assist contributions from junior Kelly Swedalla (Huntington Station, N.Y./SUNYIT) and freshman Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) in the victory.
In net, freshman Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was peppered with 15 shots, but denied all of them to pick up her eighth win and fifth shutout of the season.
The Privateers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 31, when the squad will travel to Albany, N.Y. to take on Skyline Conference-foe The Sage Colleges. Action is set to get underway at 1 p.m. at Siena College's Turf Field.
